Biography

Eric L. Watts has been active in Star Trek fandom for 40 years.  Since 2006, he has served as the Commanding Officer of the USS Republic NCC-1371, the Star Trek fan club and chapter of STARFLEET International based in Atlanta.  He is also the founder and chairman of Treklanta, the annual Star Trek convention in Atlanta, launched in 2011.  Prior to that, he was Director of Star Trek Programming for Dragon*Con from 1993 to 2009 and creator and host of the original TrekTrak.  Before that, he was the founder and president of the United Federation of Trekkers in Columbia, South Carolina, from 1980 to 1988.  Watts is also the creator, producer and host of the Miss Klingon Empire Beauty Pageant and the Independent Star Trek Fan Film Awards.  He has appeared in several Star Trek fan films, including three episodes of “Project: Potemkin” as Korgoth the Klingon.
