M. Alex LaShelle
M. Alex LaShelle started making comics after falling in love with manga at age ten. It was a simpler time. Handmade comic books were exchanged amongst a small group of sixth grade friends every time one of them completed a new issue. Dreams of creating comics professionally were put on the back burner in the years following middle school but it left open a door to explore a secondary love of science.
After climbing through the ranks of more and more advanced art classes at a science and math high school, Alex entered and placed in many art competitions. After being awarded several entrance scholarships, she went on to complete her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sequential Art at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, GA. There she overcame childhood fears and mastered the art of binging horror movies and science fiction TV while doing homework.
Alex now works as a freelance mixed media artist and writer in the Greater Atlanta Area.
Her favorite stories are the ones that make her think and rethink. She hopes to play a part in work that is powerful enough to do the same for others no matter how small a role that may be. She believes that every part of an artistic team is an important piece in creating work that stays in the hearts of those who view it because they truly care about art and the impact that it can have on our lives.
She believes that her passion for all of the arts and sciences helps her to create unique and intricate work that honors the complexity of the worlds inside and outside of our minds.
