Our Commitment to the Community

The Atlanta Sci-Fi and Fantasy Expo staff has been monitoring updates on coronavirus (COVID-19), including guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local health officials, and we know you may have questions about how we can all do our part to keep the community healthy.

We are currently still planning to host all scheduled Expo activities Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15 at North DeKalb Mall. Please check our website at www.atlantascifiexpo.com/schedule or follow our Facebook page for schedule updates at www.facebook.com/pg/scifiatlanta/events/.

We are aware of the recent cases documented in Georgia and want to remind our attendees, vendors, and overall event space participants of everyday habits you can do to prevent spreading or contracting the virus.

The CDC recommends the following:

• Stay informed — the CDC is updating its website daily with the latest information and advice for the public at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus
• IF YOU FEEL SICK with fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, do not attend the event and get medical care immediately. Call ahead to your doctor’s office or emergency room for guidance.
• Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Clean frequently touched surfaces and objects often.

What our staff is doing:

• Working with the North DeKalb Mall custodial services and surrounding stores to increase the cleanliness and maintenance of public restrooms.
• Encouraging a “no handshake” policy for all attendees. A polite nod, elbow bump, or Vulcan salute will work.
• Posting signage to remind participants to practice healthy habits while onsite.
• Encouraging any event participants who begin to feel sick during the course of the event to seek medical attention immediately off-site, as well as inform our staff by emailing info@atlantascifiexpo.com.

Please do not put yours or others’ health at risk by attending our event if you are feeling sick, have recently been in contact with someone who’s traveled internationally or has been sick, or have a high risk for complications from COVID-19. We are thankful for our community of fans who are committed to helping us make Atlanta Sci-Fi and Fantasy Expo a success this year.
