At the age of 3, Don Hillsman II was introduced to comics via his first barber shop visit and was immediately hooked. Fast forward 15 years – he breaks into comics to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a comic book artist. In 1984, his first published work was Whispers & Shadows (B+W) #1 in Americomics “Nightveil” #2.
After working in comics for about 4 years, he went rogue and became a professional skateboarder, before returning to comics working on titles for major publishers including Marvel, DC, Malibu, Image and others. Don was a founding member of Crossgen Comics’ art staff.
Don’s work has graced the pages of Superman/Batman, X-Men, Turok (for Acclaim), Weapon X, Gambit, House of M, Rogue, White Tiger, JLA, and others. He’s also done storyboards for television and film, gaming companies, Trading Cards, and various commercial art projects including designing the interiors and layout of Tampa Florida’s Hip-Hop Soda shop in 2008.
Don is currently working on the last page of his first of six books entitled, The Planet-Killers:Omega (publishing date and Go Fund Me to be announced, FINALLY!).
